The ceremony will include a keynote address by Kara Van Dam, Ph.D., vice provost for Overseas Academic Affairs and the dean of the UMUC Undergraduate School. Van Dam holds both a master’s degree and a doctorate in linguistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She started her career in higher education as the assistant dean of faculty at Kaplan University, in 2005.
